The objective of this call is to support private and public entities that can design and implement innovative solutions leading to the labor inclusion and gender equality of people with disabilities in the firms of Latin America and the Caribbean.
Through this call, launched by the Innovation Lab of the Competitiveness and Innovation Division, the Inter-American Development Bank aims at identifying practical answers to the following question:
Actors from the private sector are showing an increasing commitment to making their workplace more inclusive and gender equal. This is because firms want to leverage the talent of their human resources, irrespective of their disabilities or gender. In addition, there is increased evidence that those firms that are Socially Responsible are rewarded by their internal and external stakeholders and perform better in the market.
On one hand, employees are happier, more productive, and more committed to the firm because of its attention to human rights and non-discriminatory practices. On the other hand, more customers are paying attention to the social impact that a firm has, and they are more likely to purchase products made by firms with a socially responsible reputation because these products have an added social value.
